About Us

Welcome to 14th Gloucester, serving the Chapel Hill community in Orleans. We hope you find our website useful and use it regularly.

Scouting is a program familiar to all - many parents were in the movement in their youth. And there is certainly something for every age group, for both boys and girls. You can enter at any point and the program varies over the years so kids don't get bored. Scouting focuses on the outdoors, our community, and how we fit into it. It also develops leadership skills as the children move through the system.

We hold meetings out of four different schools in our area, Chapel Hill, Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, Forest Valley and Henry Larson. The "Meeting Places" link on the left shows you where they are and the meeting night for the sections at each location. Highlights of our scouting year include Beaver buggies with the Beaver Colonies, Cubs displaying and racing their KubKars while Scouts build and race 18-wheelers, Venturers participate in white water rafting, assist at a station during the Keskinada Loppet in February and help out with some of the younger Sections. This all culminats with our annual Group Advancement Camp at the end of May where all sections camp together under a different theme each year for a weekend of great activities.

As a Group we strive to improve our community profile by helping with the Ottawa Food Bank Drive in November, participating in Clean-Up the Capital, tree planting in the spring with Scoutrees and our ever popular fundraiser, Apple Day, in October.

A unique feature of our Group is our Sea Scout section. They are fortunate to have a small sailboat, anchored at the Rockcliffe Yacht Club and continue their program throughout the summer.

Most of our sections run late September through the end of May. Weekly meetings are supplemented by week-end outings, special events, and camps. Come try us out for a couple of weeks and see if you like it (always looking for leaders too). For more information, visit our "Contact Us" page to direct your questions.
